What this covers

Author’s Couch is a writing and book production workspace, operated by Maldicore Group Pvt Ltd. This page describes what the service stores, why, and what you can ask us to do with it.

Account information

We store your email address, your display name and, if you give one, an author name. Passwords are never stored in readable form.

Google sign-in

If you sign in with Google, we receive only your basic profile identity: your email address, name and whether Google has verified that address. We request no other Google data. We do not read your Gmail, Drive, Contacts or Calendar.

Manuscripts and author content

Your chapters, notes, research, images, covers and generated book files are private to your workspace and the people you explicitly invite. We do not publish them, sell them, or use them to train models.

Reviewer content

When you invite a reviewer, that person can read the frozen version of the manuscript you shared and leave comments and suggestions. Reviewers cannot change your live manuscript. Their comments are visible to you as the author.

Ideas, research and design material

Notes, research, questions and concepts you capture, along with cover artwork, interior settings and the finished book files the service generates, are stored privately with the book they belong to.

AI assistance

Some features send parts of your book text, and the details of the book you have entered, to an AI provider so it can answer a question, propose a rewrite, suggest a direction or draft cover copy. This only happens when you start the action. The request is made by our server, not from your device directly.

We keep an internal record of each AI operation: the feature used, the model, the counted units, timing, status and cost. That record does not contain your prompt text or your manuscript text.

The AI providers process the text we send in order to return a result. We do not control their internal handling beyond the terms they publish, so we make no promise here about how long they hold a request.

Storage and security

Data is held in a managed database and private file storage. Access is enforced per account at the database level, so one account cannot read another account’s books. Files are served through short-lived private links. Our infrastructure keeps ordinary operational logs, which can include request and error information.

Service providers

We use third parties to run the service: hosting and application infrastructure, a managed database and file storage, an email delivery service for account messages, and AI providers for the assistance features described above. They process data on our instructions in order to provide the service.

Keeping and deleting

Your content is kept while your account exists. You can delete books and content from inside the app. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your account, your books and your files from the live service.

Your choices

You can view and correct your account details in the app, export your book files, and ask for a copy or deletion of your data. Write to support@authorscouch.com.

Changes

If this page changes in a way that affects you, we will update the date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
